Dubawi Runners are Flying

Dubawi’s runners are well and truly flying at the moment and on Sunday, 10 September he reached a new high, even by his own remarkable standards, when siring the first three home in the G1 Prix Vermeille at Chantilly.

The 12-furlong contest was won by Francis-Henri Graffard’s charge Bateel, who battled all the way down the home straight with her paternal half-sister Journey (winner of last year’s G1 British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes), eventually moving clear to win by two and a half lengths. Left Hand, who won this race last year, finished fast to take third.

This was the seventh career win and fourth at Black Type level for Bateel, who won the G3 Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock in July, before landing the G2 Prix du Pomone on 6 August.

Bateel was bred by Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nayhan and is one of two Stakes winners out of Pretty Polly Stakes second Attractive Crown.

Dubawi has now sired no fewer than 31 individual G1 winners – with five scorers at the highest level this year alone. This week, he recorded his 90th Group winner when Glorious Journey took the G3 Prix La Rochette.
