Breeders’ Cup: Keeneland Grads Dominate

Keeneland sales graduates secured spots in the starting gate for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Nov. 3-4 at Del Mar with wins in weekend graded stakes.

Four sales graduates clinched bids over Fall Stars Weekend at Keeneland: Zipessa, winner of the First Lady (G1) (Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf-G1); Free Drop Billy, winner of the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) (Sentient Jet Juvenile-G1); Finley’sluckycharm, winner of the Thoroughbred Club of America (G1) (Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint-G1) and Flameaway, winner of the Dixiana Bourbon (Juvenile Turf-G1).

At Belmont, Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale graduates Diversify won the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) to earn a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Separationofpowers took the Frizette (G1) to claim a spot in the 14 Hands Winery Juvenile Fillies (G1).

Roy H won the Santa Anita Sprint Championship (G1) to secure a berth in the TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).

Among other notable wins this weekend, Roly Poly captured her third Group 1 stakes, winning the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot (G1) at Newmarket. At Santa Anita, Unique Bella returned to the races following a seven-month layoff to win the L. A. Woman (G3). Both Roly Poly and Unique Bella are Keeneland September Yearling Sale alumni.
